The star has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which works to protect the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

He was awarded the cheque on mid-October as his latest record the album was named the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it weren't for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – approximately 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by adding a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support numerous local spots across the UK.

These funds helped locations that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.

Additional spaces received funding support in upgrading infrastructure and gear that positively impacted performers and fans.

"The idea that funds from shows in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has said.

Fender is among several artists to give his honor prize money to charitable organizations.

Back when the band won the award in 1996 for their album the album, lead singer the singer announced that the band would contribute their cash to the charity War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between several organizations, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," she told a publication.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the community center that nurtured their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Additionally winners that year they contributed their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated vocalist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our success affected the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had protected several small stages in that region, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in the city and the other in that location were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the properties.
